Rebates & Resources

Rebates & Resources

Understanding your options for support, funding, and additional help.

Below you’ll find information about Medicare rebates, private health fund options, assessment fees, and useful mental-health resources. If you have any questions, we’re happy to walk you through your options.

Medicare Rebates (Mental Health Treatment Plan)

Many clients can access a Medicare rebate when referred by a GP under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).

As a registered psychologist, I am eligible to provide Medicare rebates for therapy sessions when clients have a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from their GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.

The current Medicare rebate for sessions with a general psychologist is:

  • $98.95 per session

Clients can access up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Please bring your MHCP and referral letter to your first appointment (or your GP can send it directly).

Under this plan, you may be eligible for rebates for:

  • Up to 10 group sessions per calendar year (if applicable)

Rebate amount:

The rebate for a registered psychologist is typically $93.35 per session (amount set by Medicare). You pay the session fee, and we process the rebate for you after your appointment.
  1. Book an appointment with your GP

  3. Ask for a Mental Health Treatment Plan

  4. Bring your plan or referral letter to your first session

If you’re unsure what to ask your doctor, we can guide you through the process.

Referral Pathways

If you or someone you care about needs immediate support, the following services can help:

Please ask your GP or referring practitioner to send referrals via Medical Object to:

Private Health Insurance

Many private health insurers provide rebates for psychological services depending on your level of cover.

Rebates cannot be used in combination with Medicare but may be used when:

  • you have used your MHCP sessions for the year.

Please check directly with your health fund to confirm your rebate amount.
